Casting a project
Where do I start if I want to book a model?
Open the roster, look through the portfolios and send a brief with your preferred cast. We’ll check the dates, scope and terms with the talent before confirming a booking.
How do I choose between LUX, LOVE and GRIT?
LUX is fashion and editorial. LOVE is beauty, lifestyle and commercial. GRIT is sport, movement, outdoor, streetwear and character work. Start with the feeling you want for the shoot. A model can suit more than one world.
Can I put several models on the same brief?
Yes. Save models from the roster or their profiles. Your shortlist stays in this browser and can go into a single estimate or brief. We check availability separately.
Can I check a rate from a model’s profile?
Yes. Choose the fee estimate on the profile to bring that model into Rates. You can check a shoot date from the estimate or start a brief with the model already selected.
What makes a good casting brief?
Tell us the brand, concept, shoot date, location, hours and who you’re looking for. Include what you’ll make, where and how long it will run, any exclusivity and your budget. A moodboard or deck helps us see what you see.
Can you help me build the cast?
Yes. Leave the cast open in your brief and tell us about the product, audience, visual direction and practical requirements. We can suggest people for the work.
Can the cast travel outside Melbourne?
We consider interstate and international work subject to availability and travel. Include the location, dates and any travel or accommodation arrangements when you get in touch.
Rates and image usage
How do you estimate a model’s fee?
We start with the work and how long the model is needed. The licence accounts for the media, territory, term and any exclusivity. Use Rates to see an itemised estimate for your brief.
Why can two models on the same shoot cost different amounts?
The same work and usage start at the same standard rate. MRPD can approve a higher individual fee based on paid work, repeat demand or rates clients have accepted. A specialist fee applies when the brief calls for approved specialist duties. Where several premiums apply, we use the highest applicable rate. You’ll see the reason on the estimate and we’ll confirm the fee before booking.
When will I know the final fee?
We confirm fees after reviewing availability, usage, scope and any extras. Some briefs need a tailored quote before we can give you a figure.
Why does it matter where the images run?
A product listing, an organic post, a paid ad and a billboard put the work in different places and in front of different audiences. That placement and reach help determine what the licence costs.
What do territory, term and exclusivity mean?
Territory is where the work can appear. Term is how long it can run. Exclusivity can restrict the model’s work for competing brands or categories during the agreed period. Tell us what you need for each.
Can I get in touch before I know the date or budget?
Yes. Send what you have and mark the details that are provisional. We can talk through the scope before you request a booking.
Does the model fee include production costs?
The fee covers the agreed talent services and rights. Hair and makeup, studio hire, travel and other production costs are arranged and priced separately where needed.
Joining the agency
Can I apply now?
Yes. Send an application for representation. We review submissions and get in touch if we’d like to meet you.
What should I have ready?
You’ll need to be 18 or older. Have your measurements, availability, experience, goals and any current agency details handy. Share a folder with three to ten recent digitals and any portfolio or social links you want us to see.
Can I apply if I’ve never been paid to model?
Yes. We look at how you come across on camera, what you can bring to a brief and how you approach the work. Include any professional photographs you already have.
What happens after I send my application?
We look through your material, availability and goals. If there’s a fit, we’ll arrange a conversation. Accepted models complete their agreement and onboarding before we prepare their profile.
Are representation offers exclusive?
New offers are exclusive. Tell us about any agency agreement you already have. Your signed agreement sets the terms of your representation.
How much commission does MRPD take?
The standard commission is 20% on work covered by the representation agreement. The agreement explains how commission applies to booked and managed work.
Who do I speak to once I’ve signed?
The talent team coordinates opportunities and keeps you in the loop. For day-to-day representation, email jacob@mrpd.au.
Can I bring my manager ideas for work?
Yes. Bring brands, campaigns or roles you’d like to pursue. If you have a skill or relevant work that makes the idea a good fit, show us that too.
Can I run a campaign for my own profile?
Represented models can discuss a targeted campaign at the cost of the ads. MRPD charges no separate management fee for this service. We agree the spend and scope with you before launch.
Portfolios and digitals
What’s the difference between a portfolio and digitals?
A portfolio shows the range of work you can make. Digitals show how you look today in simple light, with minimal styling. Casting teams use both.
Can I shoot my digitals on a phone?
Yes. Ask someone to take the photos in soft natural light against a plain background. Wear simple, fitted clothing, keep makeup minimal and leave the images unfiltered and unretouched.
Which angles do you need?
Start with a neutral headshot from the front, a side profile and a full-length front photo. If you have them, add a three-quarter photo and one with a relaxed expression.
When should I take new digitals?
Every one to two months is a useful guide. Take a fresh set sooner if your hair, measurements or appearance changes noticeably.
What goes on a comp card?
A comp card puts key photographs and current measurements in one place for casting teams. We prepare it during onboarding for represented models.
Do I need to pay for a portfolio shoot to sign?
There’s no signing fee. Accepted models can use suitable existing photos, arrange their own shoot or book a directed MRPD shoot with agreed edited images for $500 plus GST.
Can I arrange hair and makeup for my portfolio shoot?
Yes. We can arrange hair and makeup for an additional $300. We’ll discuss and price studio hire and any other extras separately.
When is my portfolio shoot date locked in?
The date is confirmed once we’ve agreed it with you and received the required payment. Until then, the date is provisional.
What appears on my public profile?
The roster shows your first name and public portfolio details. We handle legal and administrative information privately for bookings, agreements and payments.
